Project Background

Mott 32 Toronto required an audio environment that complemented its dining experience and carefully designed interior. Music needed to contribute to the atmosphere while the equipment remained visually discreet. Avvantage’s project combined architectural audio with a higher-output arrangement for the bar, using Bose Professional components.

The brief was shaped by the character of hospitality spaces: guests experience the room as a whole, and sound is part of that experience. The installation therefore considered how music would feel in different areas rather than treating the restaurant as one uniform speaker zone.

The Challenge

The project record identifies reflective tile surfaces, higher ambient noise around bar areas and different acoustic conditions across the venue. These characteristics can make one audio setting unsuitable for every location. The design needed to address sound distribution while respecting the interior’s visual language.

The bar presented a particular balance. It needed a richer, higher-output music experience within a space where bulky equipment could interrupt the setting. Dining areas required a more discreet architectural approach. The challenge was to coordinate these needs without making the technology dominate the guest environment.

The Solution

Avvantage integrated compact Bose architectural loudspeakers for background audio that could sit comfortably within the interior. Speaker placement and tuning were used to support the intended atmosphere while preserving the room’s appearance. The design treated discreet integration as a practical requirement of the hospitality brief.

For the bar, the documented solution used Bose L1 Pro32 systems with Sub2 powered subwoofers. This paired a slim line-array format with low-frequency support, addressing the desire for stronger musical performance in a constrained footprint. It allowed the bar’s audio requirements to be handled with equipment suited to that part of the venue.

Acoustic zone tuning addressed the differing conditions across tile surfaces and open dining areas. The aim was a more balanced listening experience as guests moved through the restaurant, with the system adjusted for its surroundings instead of relying only on loudspeaker specifications.
