Whistler Golf Simulator

Project Background

A homeowner in Whistler, British Columbia wanted to bring golf practice into a mountain residence without losing the comfort and character of the existing home. The brief combined focused practice with a welcoming setting for family and guests. Avvantage delivered the installation in June 2026, bringing the enclosure, projection, tracking technology and computer system together as one usable entertainment space.

The available room measured approximately 18 by 16 feet, with a 9.5-foot ceiling. Existing glazing, hardwood flooring and finished surfaces shaped the layout. The project therefore began with the room itself: where a player could swing, where the image would be viewed and how the equipment could sit within the existing interior.

The Challenge

A home simulator depends on more than selecting a projector and launch monitor. The enclosure, impact screen, hitting position and camera need to work together within the available space. In this residence, protecting existing finishes and planning around windows were important parts of the installation. Equipment logistics also had to suit the Whistler location.

Another priority was everyday usability. The family needed a clear way to start the system, launch the simulation software and shut everything down. Installation and calibration were therefore only part of the brief; the handover needed to make the complete setup understandable.

The Solution

Avvantage measured the room and planned the equipment layout before installing the frame, premium enclosure, impact screen and hitting surface. Site protection helped accommodate the work within an already finished home. Projection, computer hardware, launch monitor and swing camera were then integrated, with cable management considered as part of the completed room.

Additional floor lighting supported swing-camera performance. The system was calibrated and tested after installation so that the connected components could be demonstrated together. The documented work took place across a three-day installation, including setup, testing, cleanup and client training.

The original room photograph shows the glazing, hardwood floor and residential setting before installation. The completed photograph shows the fitted enclosure, screen, hitting area and tracking equipment. A separate planning visual in the original project record is a design concept and should be understood as such, rather than as a photograph of the finished installation.

Project Outcome

The completed space gives the family a dedicated indoor golf environment within the existing residence. At handover, Avvantage demonstrated startup, projector and computer operation, FSX use, shutdown and basic troubleshooting. This connected the technical installation to the practical routines the household would use after the team left.
